The race for Westchester district attorney has turned into one of the most contentious primaries of the year.

Incumbent Janet DiFiore and her challenger, Rye attorney Tony Castro, have traded increasingly heated barbs with the primary vote more than a week away.

The attacks have seen DiFiore blast her opponent for accepting campaign cash from controversial publisher and strip club owner Sam Zherka. Castro has retaliated by accusing the incumbent of covering up her role in last year's prosecution of Irma Marquez, who apparently was seen on surveillance video being slammed to the ground by Yonkers Police Officer Wayne Simoes.

Both Marquez and Simoes were cleared of any wrongdoing.
