Children at a ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance in White Plains learned about the Holocaust.
Stanley Berger, a Holocaust survivor from Poland, was at the commemoration. Berger escaped with a Catholic family, who followed the advice of a priest not to have the young boy convert to Catholicism. The young priest eventually became Pope John Paul II.
The commemoration also featured 25 Torah scrolls that were rescued from the Holocaust.
