Westchester County officials raised the Italian flag in White Plains on Wednesday to mark Italian American Heritage Month.
The ceremony took place outside of the Michaelian Office Building and dozens of people came out to see the red, white, and green flag fly high in the sky.
The special celebration also included the singing of the Italian national anthem and the presentation of a proclamation.
Guests were also treated to some Italian food at a reception that was held at the end of the event.
"Westchester is a mosaic of lots of different ethnic groups," County Executive George Latimer said. "We want to celebrate all of these different groups that make Westchester special [and] the Italian American community is one of those groups."
