Westchester County Executive George Latimer says the IDA grant and loan program officially launched Monday morning, which is meant to help small businesses and nonprofits that have suffered due to the pandemic.
BRIEFING NOTES:
- Latimer says that there 477 active cases of coronavirus in the county. He says 130,000 people were tested within the last month.
- Latimer says there have been over 497,000 coronavirus tests conducted so far.
- He says there are around 30 people hospitalized for COVID-19 in the county.
- Latimer says there have been 1,449 fatalities related to COVID-19.
- He says the county will be ready to help schools as they make their decisions on reopening. The schools report directly to the state, not the county.
- Latimer says that with gyms reopening, the county will be helping inspect the buildings to see if they are safe. He says the county will be working with local building departments for the inspections.
- The county launched the IDA grant and loan program this morning to help small businesses who suffered from the pandemic.
- The program allows the County of Westchester Industrial Development Agency (IDA) to provide grants and make loans through the state disaster emergency loan program.
- The police reform task force has also held several public forums across the county.
- Latimer addressed the Ossining concert, saying that police did as much as they could. He says that most of the people that attended the concert were from New York City and were not county residents.
- He is calling on the event organizer to be held accountable, whether it be financially or criminally.
