Westchester County Executive George Latimer provided a coronavirus update in Mount Vernon.
Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard discussed how the city is doing and the need to balance the public health needs with reopening the economy.
Patterson-Howard said Mount Vernon is a resilient community, and has been able to come together during the COVID-19 crisis.
Latimer says there are under 3,000 active cases in the county. Hospitalizations are under 500. He says the death total has risen to 1,245 and seven people died in the county Tuesday. He says the total number of positive cases in the county is 31,611.
Masks were donated in Mount Vernon today, and they will continue to be delivered throughout the county to the most-needed people.
Westchester and other nearby counties are within five of the seven categories necessary for reopening.
Census collection will go on until Oct. 31.
Antibody testing hit the 2,000 mark Tuesday, and they hope to hit 2,500 Westchester Wednesday at the Westchester County Center.
