West Point is mourning the loss of one of its cadets after he died while on leave in Florida.
Fort Lauderdale police report that Cadet Havin Morris died on Monday in what appears to be an accidental drowning. No foul play is suspected. The 21-year-old, originally from Pleasanton, California, was found deceased in Florida.
The West Point superintendent expressed condolences, describing Cadet Morris as a valued member committed to serving his country as an Army officer.
The Army has officially notified Cadet Morris' family, and a casualty assistance officer has been appointed to support them. West Point also offers resources for cadets, staff, faculty, and community members and encourages individuals to seek support as needed.
