News 12 followed an employee from Long Island Coalition for the Homeless as she searched for people in need of shelter amid this brutal cold.
Rodamez Cintron, 29, told News 12 he’s been living on the streets for eight months.
He said being out in the cold all day is “horrible” and “not worth the toll on your body whatsoever.”
News 12 spoke with him in Brentwood, where Ella Scipp, from Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, spoke to him about their mission of helping Long Islanders find housing, with the ultimate goal being permanent housing.
She gave him a sleeping bag, boots and food.
“It’s really cold out here. We’re losing people every day. We don’t want to lose you," she says.
