When temperatures drop, there's a warming center at the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center in Pomona for those who need a place to go.

"We're here if you need it," said Mike Domen, a specialist with Rockland's Department of Social Services.

He says this is the first year DSS is operating the location, instead of Catholic Charities.

A total of 75 adults can get a place to sleep, a hot meal and even a shower.

"We'll take in anyone who needs a warm place to stay," said Domen. "If they're homeless or even if your heat breaks down and you need a day or two to get it fixed. You're more than welcome to come in."

The county has another location at the health center in Pomona for families who need a place to stay warm.

A graph given to News 12 by the county tracks that there are more people using the warming center this month compared to last year.

Domen believes that's because of the colder weather currently.
