Westchester Community College announced that its center for the arts will shut down before next fall.
The school says, "With revenues unable to keep pace with rising costs and changing program demands at the White Plains Center for the Arts, programming there is no longer financially feasible and will discontinue effective September 2019."
Students say there isn't another place in the area with the space and technology or with instructors as experienced.
One instructor says that the loss of the art center will have "a devastating impact on so many."
The school says despite the center shutting down, its commitment to the arts will remain strong. It plans on moving programs from the center to other locations including their main campus in Valhalla.
