Westchester and Hudson Valley residents can expect an extra $13 in their paychecks each week beginning in June as part of President Barack Obama?s $787 billion stimulus bill.
The tax break is part of the $400 a year ?making work pay? program built into the stimulus. Some residents see the value in the extra pocket money and believe they can spend the cash on everyday expenses, like gas, food and clothing. Paul Steineck, of Yonkers, thinks the cumulative effect of all Americans spending their extra money will jolt the economy.
Though some people are skeptical the small amount of cash will change their lifestyles, the president hopes future spending will help improve the economy and create jobs.
