Water service is back on for a portion of downtown Peekskill.

City water department officials confirm a water main break was fixed around 6 a.m. today.

Officials say a contractor damaged a water line around 3 p.m. in the area of Park and North Broad streets.

Water customers in that area lost service until the repairs were completed.
