A local meat company has partnered with the New York Regional Food Bank in Cornwall to provide hundreds of pounds of meat to local communities impacted by last month’s storms.

Walden Local Meat Co. donated 500 pounds of farm-sourced meat this month to the food bank on Hudson Street in Cornwall.

It’s being delivered to surrounding communities hard hit by flash floods.

The food bank’s director, Sara Gunn, says the donation comes at a time when local families need it most.

“It’s very important to have meat. Meat is very high-priced right now, so even in the times that aren’t a crisis like a flood, it’s important, those sorts of donations,” said Gunn.

The CEO of Walden Local Meat Company, Nancy Pak, says they hope the donation helps families as they continue to recover from the storms.

“Giving back to the communities in which we have farmer partners, customers and employees is at the heart of what Walden Local Meat Co. stands for. We hope that our donation helps those in the community as storm recovery continues," said Pak.
