Wal-mart will pay $66,000 to settle claims it overcharged some New York shoppers who purchased Coca-Cola products.
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says the retail giant charged 50 cents more for a 12-pack of Coke than it advertised earlier this year.
The victims say the store told them the higher cost was for a state sugar tax, which does not actually exist. Other New York Coke patrons were told that the sale on the 12-pack drink did not apply in the state of New York.
Wal-mart sold 66,000 cases of the soda at the inflated price. The company adjusted the pricing on June 12, after Schneiderman alerted it to the problem.
