The Bedford doctor who was electrocuted last month is being remembered at his wake Friday night.
Kole Nikprelaj was electrocuted by the ramp at the Wright Island Marina in New Rochelle on July 9. His girlfriend was also shocked, but survived.
Hundreds came out to pay their respects to Nikprelaj and his family.
Nikprelaj was 24 years old and was set to turn 25 this month. He had finished medical school and was about to start his residency at Berkshire Medical Center.
Nikprelaj and his girlfriend Dila Bujaj has just finished jet-skiing when he was electrocuted by a live wire in the water near the dock.
Nikprelaj was removed from life support last Sunday.
Bujaj says her boyfriend was valedictorian in high school and had love and care for everyone has crossed paths with. He was motivated to enter the field because his sister has been in a wheelchair her whole life, and he wanted to discover a way to help her walk.
"Wake up and be thankful for every day and definitely try to strive like Kole, because he took every day by the horns he would say be thankful for everything that you got,” says Bujaj.
His funeral will take place Saturday in Hartsdale.
