Wake held for fallen Yorktown police officer

Police officials say Sgroi suddenly became ill this weekend and died around 8 p.m. Jan. 2 at 37.

A wake was held Friday for fallen Yorktown Police Lt. Kenneth Sgroi.
Services were held at the Yorktown Funeral Home in Shrub Oak.
Police officials say Sgroi suddenly became ill this weekend and died around 8 p.m. Jan. 2 at 37.
Sgroi leaves behind a wife and two young children.
His funeral is scheduled for Saturday at Saint Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights. He will then be buried in Cortlandt Manor. 
A number of lanes and streets are going to be closed Saturday as the services are held.
For Saturday's funeral at St. Patrick's Church, parking will be available on the BOCES Pines Bridge campus.
There will be a free shuttle to and from the church.
Officials say the following roads will be closed:
  • Hanover Street from Hudson Road to Moseman Road will be closed at 8 a.m.
  • Hanover Street will be closed from Croton Heights Road to Commerce Street at 9 a.m.
  • Moseman Road will be closed from Pines Bridge Road (Somers) to Front Street at 9 a.m.
  • All side streets that lead onto Hanover Street between Croton Heights Road and Commerce Street will be closed at Hanover at 9 a.m.
