A wake was held Monday for the oldest working barber in the world.
Anthony Mancinelli died at 108 Thursday -- exactly 100 years to the day that he came to America from Italy.
Mancinelli took up the profession in 1924 and continued working until July of this year at Fantastic Cuts in New Windsor.
Jane Dinezza owns Fantastic Cuts salon. Mancinelli came looking for a job five years ago. She had reservations, but decided to give him a shot.
"When I saw his work I told him, 'you're hired,'" said Dinezza.
The World War II veteran had been cutting hair since he was 12 years old. He had his own barbershop in Newburgh for more than 60 years.
In 2007, the Guinness Book of World Records designated him the world's oldest barber.
