Westchester County Executive Latimer's landslide 17-point win over progressive "Squad" member Rep. Jamaal Bowman made international headlines following a bitterly fought campaign, where the fallout from the Israel-Hamas war took center stage.
After Oct. 7, Bowman became one of Israel's harshest critics in Washington. Latimer painted himself as a more moderate voice on the issue.
Now that the heated Democratic primary is in the rear-view mirror, other hot button topics are also coming into focus, including housing and jobs.
Latimer's Republican opponent is Flisser, a former Scarsdale mayor and pediatrician.
Flisser ran for the seat before but lost to Bowman two years ago by nearly 30 points. She now faces the same long odds again in a district with an almost 3 to 1 Democratic enrollment advantage.
She says she's more focused on the issues than the political calculus.
Both candidates are pledging to spend the remaining days before Election Day getting their message out to the voters across Westchester and the Bronx.
