A Port Chester woman says her father, a volunteer firefighter was detained by ICE last Tuesday.

Joselyn Guamarrigra is the daughter of 43-year-old Milton Guamarraigra.

She says her father was taken by ICE agents on July 29 around 7 a.m.

Wednesday coverage:

Guamarrigra says her father has lived in Port Chester for over 20 years, and has been a volunteer fire fighter since 2018.

She says her family can only reach him and figure out his location when he calls.

Guamarrigra says her father has been moved to three different locations since last Tuesday, including one facility in New York.

"My dad did tell me today that he was in a small room with about 70 people, most of them were sleeping on the ground with no foil blanket....They did not get any water. Medications weren't provided when needed and a lot of people are apparently sick people, elderly people that do require them," she said.

At this time, the family has hired a lawyer to try and prevent his deportation.

Port Chester Fire Department declined to comment.

News 12 reached out to the mayor and village manager, but has not heard back.

The Port Chester Police Department said in a statement, "It was strictly an operation conducted by immigration and Port Chester Police had no knowledge or provided no assistance.'

ICE Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin sent News 12 a statement almost one week after the arrest was first reported. She called Guamarraigra "a serial drunk driver" with three prior DWIs.

"Too many innocent lives have been lost at the hands of illegal aliens driving under the influence. Just this week, DHS highlighted the tragedies of Rickey Maddox who was killed by an illegal alien driving under the influence in Louisiana and the death of a mom and her 11-year-old daughter in New Jersey by another illegal alien. Guamarrigra entered the U.S. illegally at an unknown time and place. In 2006, he was ordered removed by an immigration judge. He is currently being held at Calhoun County Correctional Center in Michigan.”
