Violent attack sends MTA bus driver to hospital after Yonkers street incident

Police in several Hudson Valley communities were kept busy with violent crimes over the weekend.

In Yonkers, police received reports just after 9 p.m. on Saturday of shots being fired in the area of Doyle Park on Ashburton Avenue. Officers then got word that a 36-year-old man had taken himself to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his back that reportedly occurred there. The victim was treated for his injury and remains in stable condition as detectives continue their investigation.

In Poughkeepsie, on Saturday at around 10:20 p.m., police received 911 calls about shots fired in the area of 472 Main St., near the Kennedy Fried Chicken restaurant. Police found a 55-year-old Poughkeepsie man with gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital, where he later died.

Police in Kingston say they are investigating a homicide that happened in the area of Mead Street. That is all the information they have released at this point.

In all three incidents, police are asking anyone with information to reach out to them.
