A police investigation is underway near Bregano Park in Yonkers.
Several neighbors say they heard a loud “boom” Monday night, similar to a firework, but louder.
Police say officers received a call Monday night for fireworks in the area just after 8 p.m.
Officers responded to the scene but did not see anyone in the park. Officials say that police officers found a damaged portable toilet on Tuesday morning.
Several officers were seen around the park on Brandon Road.
Police believe it was a firework that went off. An investigation remains underway.
No injuries have been reported and police say there is no threat to the public.
The city has received complaints in the recent past about loud booms in the area. Officials say police will be stepping up patrols.
