A candlelight vigil was held Wednesday evening in White Plains to mark the third anniversary of the fatal police shooting of Kenneth Chamberlain Sr.
As News 12 previously reported, 68-year-old Chamberlain was shot and killed in his apartment in 2011. Police responded to Chamberlain's home after his medical alert device was accidentally activated. Officers knocked down the door after he refused to let them in. Investigators say Chamberlain then lunged at them with a knife.
No charges were brought against any of the officers involved, but Chamberlain's family has filed a $21 million lawsuit against the city.
The candlelight vigil was held outside the Public Safety Building on South Lexington Avenue in White Plains.
