Students at Pomona Middle School received advice on dealing with bullies and breaking the bullying cycle Thursday.

Tom Thelan, the author of the book "Victimproof," spoke to students at Pomona Middle School Thursday.

Thelan has spoken at schools around the country about the importance of breaking the bullying cycle and speaking up if someone is hurting you or someone else.

"Even if they're going through sort of low level social bullying and it's being repeated, they need to get help from a teacher," says Thelan. "If they hide all that stuff inside, they become isolated and try to get even, and it just perpetuates that bullying cycle."
