Local veterans were honored and remembered in Yonkers Monday for the sacrifices they made for our country.
An annual memorial service was held at the AM-Vets Veterans Post on Waverly Place last night.
One vet remembers the men he served with during World War II. "Three guys from the 7th ward from Yonkers were in that Navy ship. I said, 'Oh my god! These guys are from right there, from Waverly Street!'" recalls World War II veteran Ralph Amato.
Veterans say it's important to remember that Memorial Day is for remembering those who fought for our country, and who gave their lives in the name of freedom.
