The entire fleet of buses in the Somers School District was left vandalized and disabled Friday morning, causing two-hour delays.
According to investigators, someone slipped into the district's bus yard and deflated the tires on more than 45 Royal Coach buses. Fifteen to 20 buses from other areas were brought to transport students while the disabled vehicles were repaired.
Parents were notified of the incident via e-mail and through several other school district communication systems. Many chose to drive their children to school themselves.
Area schools opened at the usual time, and students taking buses from outside the district were not affected.
