Arson investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire in a vacant building in Dobbs Ferry last night.
Officials say they received a call around 7 p.m. yesterday at the two-story building on Ashford Avenue. It took firefighters several hours to get that blaze under control.
The flames tore through the building that once housed the "Tattoo Me" shop and another business. The owner of the tattoo shop reportedly died some years ago, and both shops have been vacant for years.
"There was a flat roof underneath a pitched roof and the fire was burning underneath there for a long time. It was tough to get to," says Dobbs Ferry Fire Chief Chris Denike.
No one was hurt.
Neighbors say the two-story building has been vacant for about two years, but was recently undergoing renovations.
