The Federal Elections Commission (FEC) is questioning about a half a million dollars in spending by U.S. Senate candidate John Spencer.
Spencer's July financial statement was filed with the FEC. In a letter to the campaign treasurer, U.S. officials say the report lists almost $1 million in expenses but itemizes less than half of that amount. The FEC is now requesting additional information.
Spencer is blaming the mix-up on a computer glitch. He says his staff has corrected the problem and filed the appropriate information with the FEC. Meanwhile, challenger KT McFarland is taking full advantage of the questions concerning Spencer?s spending. The McFarland camp says how can voters put their trust in someone who can?t account for his own campaign finances.
