An underage drinking bust in Nyack has sparked concern among advocates.
The Pour House in Nyack lost its liquor license for allegedly serving drinks to minors. Teens who live in the area say they know underage people who go there to drink.
"It definitely has a reputation for having underage drinking," says Owen Voutsina-Klose, of Nyack.
That has many advocates worried. High school sophomore Joe Kennedy says he tries to prevent his classmates from drinking. He volunteers at a substance abuse prevention program called Student Assistance Services.
Judith Mezey, the assistant director at Student Assistance Services, says hearing that a bar is serving underage kids is concerning.
"The younger you start using the alcohol, the more likely you are to develop a problem with alcohol abuse," says Mezey.
Mezey says more needs to be done to prevent the problem. She says bars should be required to ask patrons for two forms of ID.
