Ulster County man charged with hate crimes after attacking gay man

Police say Shane Wilber from Woodstock physically attacked the victim and called them homophobic slurs at a bar, after learning the victim is gay.

An Ulster County man is facing hate crime charges for allegedly attacking a gay man.

Police say Shane Wilber, 31, from Woodstock, physically attacked the victim and called them homophobic slurs at a bar, after learning the victim is gay.

They say he threw an object that cut the victim's lip, jumped over the bar, and pulled out a box cutter.

           

Officials say he caused at least $500 worth of damage on his way out.
