Two high school seniors from Westchester have been named finalists in this year's Regeneron Science Talent Search.
Ossining High School’s Thomas Cong of and Irvington High School’s Christopher Zorn of Irvington High School are the finalists. Both students both submitted projects relating to cancer research.
Cong and Zorn will head to Washington, D.C. in March where they will participate in a week-long competition, undergo a rigorous judging process of their research and get a chance to network with top scientists.
“I’m just super excited to be a finalist,” said Cong.
"We know the community that this gets,” added Zorn. “The alumni network that I’m now in, and now that I’m a finalist, all like the leading scientists in the world.”
The top 10 winners of the talent search will be announced at an awards ceremony during finals week. The prizes for those winners range between $40,000 and $250,000.
