Croton Point Park and Philipse Manor beaches are closed on Friday due to high bacteria levels, which officials say pose some health concerns.

The Westchester County Health Department's beach surveillance program found the bacteria levels exceeded levels that are safe for people to swim in.

The heightened bacteria levels may be a result of heavy rains Wednesday night.

The county says a second round of testing came back positive for elevated levels of bacteria at both beaches. A third test will be conducted on Monday and if that sample meets the required safety standards, the beaches will be reopened.
