A tractor-trailer carrying hazardous materials hit an overpass on the Hutchinson River Parkway early Thursday morning, shutting down the road for hours.
Firefighters say the vehicle was transporting graphite tape at the time of the accident, which happened shortly after midnight at the King Street overpass in Rye Brook.
Police say the trailer became lodged under the overpass, and when the driver attempted to back out, the truck's cabin ripped open.
Both northbound lanes of the Hutchinson River Parkway reopened at 7 a.m. The driver, a Florida resident, was cited for driving with a suspended license and for vehicle and traffic violations.
