Downed trees and
wires were left in Wappingers Falls following Wednesday’s wet, stormy weather.
A microburst of wind gusts of around 60 mph had residents
surprised.
Roads all around the area were blocked with debris and a
tree even fell on one house.
The
owners of the house, the Acree family, tell News 12 that it seemed like a
normal summer storm and then it just went haywire.
“The trees fell like dominoes,” they say.
“There’s one in the lake, one on the house, one right after each other.”
A
transformer was taken down on Mesier Avenue during the storm, which was heard by neighbor Matthew Giancarlo.
“All of a sudden, ‘Bang,’” Giancarlo says. “The transformer must have popped; it fell
on the ground, and it was all hell breaking loose.”
More than 1,500 were left without power for a time.
There
were no reports of any injuries.
