Chestnut Ridge officials have released the name of the man who died after a tree limb struck his vehicle on Sunday morning.

Police say 29-year-old Yisroel Freeman was driving into Bais Medrash of Dexter Park, a private Jewish school at 445 S. Pascack Road, around 9:40 a.m. when a tree limb fell through the windshield and struck the driver's compartment.

The vehicle then rolled forward and hit another tree at a slow speed.

Freeman was initially unresponsive but regained consciousness and spoke with first responders at the scene. He was transported to Westchester Medical Center by Hatzoloh Ambulance Corps, where he later died of his injuries.

While high winds were reported at the time of the accident, police are still investigating what caused the tree branch to fall.

Funeral services for the man were held Sunday evening.
