The holiday weekend is coming to an end and travelers are heading home - but as COVID-19 cases surge across the U.S., many are taking precautions.
Luisa Machado, who was heading back to Florida from Westchester County Airport, says she plans on quarantining for 14 days and getting tested once she gets back.
New Yorkers who were out of state for more than 24 hours, but didn't quarantine for 14 days, must take a COVID-19 test within three days of their arrival back.
Once in New York, they must quarantine for three days and take another COVID-19 test on the fourth day of quarantine.
Anyone leaving the airport without completing the traveler health form could face a $10,000 fine.
Doctors are warning people to put off nonessential travel if possible as the Christmas and New Year's holidays come closer.
