Officials say the two conducted a traffic stop Monday night that led to the recovery of a firearm and an arrest for criminal possession of a weapon.

Two Mount Vernon police officers are being applauded for taking a gun off the streets.
The Mount Vernon Police Department posted a photo on their Facebook page, giving officers Cartwright and Randolph, a well-deserved pat on the back for taking possession of the gun.
The page says the two conducted a traffic stop Monday night that led to the recovery of a firearm and an arrest for criminal possession of a weapon.
The name of the person arrested has not been release yet.
