Traffic Alert: Route 6 closed in Cortlandt due to tree work

Officials are alerting motorist to a road closure in Cortlandt for the next week because of tree work.
The New York state Department of Transportation says U.S. Route 6/202 (Bear Mountain Bridge Road) will be closed in both directions between State Route 9D and U.S. Route 9 in the Town of Cortlandt. The closure started today and takes place every day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. until Friday, March 24.
Motorists should expect delays and follow the posted detour utilizing State Route 9D, State Route 403 and U.S. Route 9.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver license
