Ticketing begins Tuesday for Milford speed cameras
Milford launched its photo speed enforcement cameras May 25 to encourage safer speeds and reduce the risk of serious crashes.

The warning period for speed camera enforcement in Milford has ended, and ticketing begins today.
Drivers caught going 10 mph over the speed limit in designated locations, such as the 200 block of Woodruff Road, will receive a $50 ticket for a first offense. Additional offenses will carry a $75 fine.

Police said speeding has dropped 50% in the city since the warning period began.
The cameras will operate 24/7 at select locations, including high-traffic corridors and school zones.
Those locations include:
The Academy School Zone, 100 block of Gulf Street.
Live Oaks Elementary School Zone, 500 block of Merwin Avenue.
West Shore Middle School Zone, 500 block of Milford Point Road.
Platt Technical School Zone, 500 block of Orange Avenue.
Cameras have been a hot-button issue in many communities.
