The wet and windy weather caused power lines and trees to come crashing down in Yorktown Heights.

News 12’s Emily Young took a ride in Thunderbolt 12 to check on roads closed by the damage brought by the storm.

And we remain on storm watch because we are getting ready for things to change a lot heading into tomorrow. Meteorologist Crystal Ellis is here. So, Crystal, what do we need to know about the timing of what's heading our way? It's gonna be the afternoon is when things really start to ramp up and into the evening hours and especially the late overnight hours. So as we look at our planner overnight tonight, we're just dealing with some patchy fog throughout the area that's gonna to diminish the visibility just a bit as we look towards Sunday, we'll have scattered showers around in the morning, the rain and wind will pick up especially in the afternoon and especially by Sunday night, that's when we will have some heavy heavier rain, more steady and widespread and the stronger winds will be around as well. So definitely not the most pleasant end to your weekend. Let's take a look at it on the future cast. Here we are tomorrow morning, those winds between 515 MPH, not a big deal until we get into the late morning afternoon and again into the nighttime hours. So scattered showers around. Although there's some pockets of heavy downpours in the late morning hours and into the afternoon. So more scattered, more steady to widespread rain picks up in the afternoon. And then the heavy downpours really get widespread as we step into tomorrow night and the evening and check out these wind gusts around 11 pm, 31 MPH in New City, 26 New Yorktown Heights. So we're definitely going to be feeling the wind and the wet weather could lead to flooding. Maybe some power outages. Definitely, some tree limbs could be brought down with that wind. As we look at the backside of the storm. By Monday morning, we'll have wraparound showers and the winds will still be around. We could even see some wet snowflakes sneaking in as that northwest wind flow brings in colder air. So for the second half of your Monday, we'll clear things out. It's going to stay pretty blustery out there though. Again, Monday afternoon will be about 25 mile per hour wind gusts. Let's check out this 10 day forecast. We are in storm watch for tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night and Monday morning before clearing things out for the rest of your work week will be feeling cold like December highs in the low forties but remaining dry.

Thunderbolt 12: Roads closed by downed power lines, trees in Yorktown Heights

Thunderbolt 12 been out there on the roads across the Hudson Valley all day long, trekking those heavy winds and the road conditions to help keep you safe. Yep, the news twelve's Emily Young is in Yorktown Heights tonight where we know of several road closures. Emily, what have you been seeing out there? Well, unfortunately, I don't have very good news for some residents here in Yorktown Heights who thought they might have been able to escape the storm with little to no damage. But I want to show you exactly what we're looking at right now. And that is this, this is Sagamore Avenue between Delaware and Hillside Drive. There are downed power lines and a tree that's also down. Now when we got here, con Ed crews were working on the problem, but as you can see, we've, they've since left and we know the lines are still down. There are orange cones here blocking the way. They don't want anyone here. And this is again on Sagamore between Delaware and Hillside and I should mention that this is the weather conditions have changed significantly. We've been on the road all evening and now there's just a tremendous amount of slush on the roads of the roads are very wet and slick. And actually that's the reason we're in thunderbolt right now. It was just not safe to exit the vehicle, not, we're not moving, but the safest way to do this was from inside the car. So there's down power lines. He and then not 10 minutes from here. Yorktown police have shut down popular street just south of Forest Court because of downed power lines over there too. And this is just wreaking havoc on the area. About 110 customers without power right now. Con Ed and I said they know they have crews out there. Con Ed is saying they need to do more work to restore power for everyone But no word just yet on when that will be. We are in Yorktown heights this evening, Emily Young News. 12.
