Thunderbolt 12: Rain and wind slow start of one of the busiest travel days of the year

News 12's Ben Nandy is in Thunderbolt 12 checking on roadways as heavy rain and gusty winds are slowing the start of one of the busiest travel days of the year.
Over 1.5 inches of rain has already fallen overnight, and officials are urging driving to reduce speed and be aware that puddles can be deeper than they appear, potentially leading to hydroplaning or even stalling your vehicle.
Road are expected to be packed as AAA projects 55.4 million travelers will head 50 miles or more from home over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.
This year’s Thanksgiving forecast is an increase of 2.3% over last year and marks the third-highest Thanksgiving forecast since AAA began tracking holiday travel in 2000.
