The New York State Thruway between Rockland and Westchester will operate with one lane closed during the middle of the day this week as transportation officials install and test a cashless toll system.
The right lane is scheduled to be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Friday.
Once the new toll system is in place, the current toll booths in Tarrytown will be demolished, which officials say will greatly reduce traffic in the area.
Some commuters say they're afraid that the new system will lead to continually rising toll costs. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proposed freezing toll hikes until 2020.
