People across the country and in the Hudson Valley hit the road Wednesday for Thanksgiving getaways.
AAA estimated 49 million people nationwide are expected to travel by car over Thanksgiving.
The association believes this could be the third-busiest Thanksgiving travel year since they began tracking in 2000, with driving leading the way as the preferred choice.
And while the bulk of the people traveling will be driving, thousands will be flying to their destinations. A manager at the Westchester County Airport told News 12 that there were 42 flights scheduled for Wednesday, with more than 3,000 flying out.
News 12's Carol Wilkinson took Thunderbolt 12 out for a spin to give an update on the roads, and Diane Caruso checked out Westchester County Airport.
