Could shopping one day over another really make a difference? It can!
You can save big if you know when things are most likely to go on sale.
News 12’s consumer reporter Janice Lieberman spoke with Dawn Yanek, of Reader’s Digest, who says you can save big if you plan ahead.
“Absolutely. You can save a bundle. And we are talking every week, all year long, and that really adds up,” says Yanek.
For house hunting, Monday is your day!
“You're going to make the best deal and perhaps get the best offer on a Monday. Now, that's for a few different reasons. One is that the weekends are the busy time, right? So you have less people looking on a Monday, so people might be more open. The other reason is that the real estate agents and the sellers might be a little bit disappointed that they didn't get the offer that they were looking for over the weekend,” says Yanek.
Want to celebrate that house closing? How about some brew?
“Monday is a great day to buy beer. Of course, it's not the weekend when the majority of people are buying, but on top of that, Monday is the day where the stores restock. So you have a high supply, low demand, and that's when retailers are going to want to move that inventory right out of the store,” says Yanek.
Wine connoisseurs, wait until midweek!
“The best day to buy wine is actually Wednesdays. So the reason for that is, of course, people are buying most of their alcohol on the weekends and on Wednesdays. There's not a lot of people coming into the store. So that's when they're going to release their best sales and slash those prices,” says Yanek.
If you really want to celebrate or get away, hit the high seas and book at the right time!
“Cruises are expensive and the best day of the week to buy is on Thursday’s, when prices are going to drop,” says Yanek.

However, experts say that if you can buy during wave season, which is January through March, you're going to get the best deals.
