"The Late Show" was performed in front of a live audience for the first time in 15 months.
Everyone in the crowd of the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan was fully vaccinated.
Stephen Colbert was the first late-night host to return to television after the pandemic ravaged the U.S. in March 2020 with a monologue from his bathtub.
Since then, the show has been doing remote productions from South Carolina and the Ed Sullivan Theater offices.
