The two candidates for New York attorney general faced off in their first live debate Sunday in New York City.Former Westchester DA Jeanine Pirro (R-NY) and her Democratic challenger Andrew Cuomo disagreed on every issue in the first in a series of debates before November elections. Cuomo struck first, reminding voters that one of the two candidates is currently under investigation for allegedly breaking federal law. He stressed the fact that the candidate is not him. Pirro fired right back, criticizing Cuomo?s lack of experience. She compared his running for attorney general to her taking over for Yankees manager Joe Torre because she once played softball decades before.
The two debated topics such as capital punishment, same-sex marriage and DNA testing. The last scheduled debate in the race for attorney general is Tuesday, October 17 in Rochester.
