Tenants who live in Peekskill say they haven’t had gas since Dec. 4.
Sandy Allen has lived in Dunbar Heights off of Highland Avenue for more than a decade.
She says the complex, which is part of the city’s Municipal Housing Authority, needed pipe replacement back in October and that Con Ed had to shut off the gas on Dec. 4.
Tenants have heat and hot water, and are using electric cook tops provided by the Municipal Housing Authority.
An MHA commissioner says the work is now on hold. They said that after the work was partially completed, Con Ed discovered more leaky and corroded pipes.
"I will not be able to spend Christmas in my own house, with my mom, who has been sick the past couple of months,” says tenant Sheena Bauer.
Allen says she refuses to let the lack of gas spoil her Christmas.
“I have three beautiful grandchildren, still make it happy, put on a smiley face, still be jolly, but it's not going to...I'm stressed, but I'm not going to let it ruin my holidays,” she says.

News 12 has been told that once the pipes are fixed, that's when gas can be turned back on. But according to the Municipal Housing Authority, it doesn’t know when that will be.
