Several people were forced out into the rain after an early morning fire sparked in their home in Ossining.
Fire officials say they got the call for a fire at a two-family house at 19 Belleview Ave. about 4 a.m. today. They say three adults were living in the house and luckily all got out safely.
Crews say they spotted thick black smoke on the back left side of the house when they pulled up.
According to investigators, an outside spotlight shorted out and fire got into the walls, which could have been a big problem for crews. They were able to knock down the fire in about 45 minutes. "We were very fortunate that the we got the crews inside right away with a line. They were able to open up before it traveled," says Ossining Fire Chief Matthew Scarduzio.
It took about 60 firefighters close to 45 minutes to knock down the flames. Scarduzio says most of the damage was caused by water, so the house can be saved, but the people living there can't stay for now. The Red Cross is helping those fire victims.
No firefighters were injured.
