More than a dozen tenants at the Whitney Young Manor apartment complex on Nepperhan Avenue in Yonkers woke up Saturday morning to find sewage water flooding their homes.
They say the sewage started spewing out of their toilets and bathtubs at around 7 a.m. and didn't stop flowing until firefighters came to shut off the water two hours later. Residents claim this has been happening at least once a year for more than 20 years.
One tenant told News 12 that not only does the building's management refuse to pay for damages, but they make tenants clean up the mess themselves. Another said the flooding has damaged the floors and furniture in every single room of her apartment.
Residents say on top of paying for damages, they want management to fix the problem once and for all.
Calls seeking comment from the building management were not returned.
