An organization named Project Hero held a fundraiser Friday evening to pair veterans who have post-traumatic stress disorder with shelter dogs.
Project Hero, which was established by seven teenagers from all over Westchester to help veterans, teamed up with Companions for Heros to make the fundraiser happen.
"I read somewhere when two broken people try to help each other that's called love," said Army veteran Steve Sisskin. "And that's exactly what we're doing for each other."
Companions for Heros has rescued 7,000 dogs and paired them with veterans from all over the U.S.
