A stolen puppy has a new owner, and it just happens to be the person who took it in the first place.
A teenager allegedly snatched the puppy out of a cage Saturday at American Breeders on East Main Street in Mohegan Lake. In surveillance footage, the teen and another girl believed to be her sister walk into the store and, within 30 seconds, walk out with the puppy hidden under the sweatshirt of one of the girls.
News 12 is told that the teen's father apologized and then purchased the dog for $1,200.
The store owner is not pressing criminal charges, but the teens are not allowed back in the store. The owner also says he sold the puppy to the family because the father had been a customer years ago.
Yorktown police say they were never contacted about the incident.
