A teen is recovering in a hospital Tuesday after she was hit by a school bus.
The incident happened at the intersection of Bailey Avenue and 233rd Street. Witnesses say the girl was waiting to cross on the side of the road with other pedestrians. According to witnesses, even though cars were coming, the girl thought she could make it and tried to cross.
?She hesitated and thought she could make it and then she stepped into the street,? says eyewitness Richard Cotto. ?The bus driver swerved but hit her and she went flying.?
The driver stayed at the scene and is not being charged in the incident. Police say the victim, who was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, suffered bumps and bruises and is expected to be OK.
